XP-PEN Artist setup with multiple monitors on ThinkStation P330
2020-06-24, 21:42 PM
I have a P330 workstation with integrated graphics card (2 DP) running dual Dell Monitors. I want to add a drawing tablet (XP-PEN) as a 3rd device. See pic.
To operate properly the tablet apparently requires a direct HDMI connection. What are my options? What works here?
Add card to support the additional HDMI? which one? multi port card? do all 3 need to be running off one card? doesn't seem to be a mixed output option, don't want to replace the monitors, don't know if / how well adapters would work.
Would also appreciate any insight into how Windows (10 x64) handles displays in this scenario. I initially hooked up the tablet using an HDMI to USB display adapter - recognized the tablet as a widows display but wouldn't work with the tablet functionality and only allowed combined options (treat 2 displays as 1) or 2 display only.
Technically reasonable savvy, but this is getting me into the deep end of the pool for what I was thinking would be relatively straight forward.
Much appreciate any guidance / direction - have had chats with XP-PEN and Lenovo tech support, but still now clear if tje configuration I want here is supported and if so how.

Re: the DP to HDMI internal dongle - confirming installing this effectively creates a third display connection, yes? That is I can leave my two external monitors connected, connect the drawing tablet to this and Windows will see all three.
- As long as the CPU supports integrated graphics, then yes, you should be able to effectively use this as a third display. Unfortunately, we don't have any way of testing this for you as we just simply don't have the device. But going by of what you're telling us, this should be doable.
This is a Windows question I think, but will ask it anyway - assuming above, is there's anything to be aware of re: display configuration --> tablet ideally is treated as touch and others are configured as duplicate / extension.
- This is really a driver question for the device. As long as the driver support touch, then this should work.
Re: the card alternative, given above additional HW info, is this an option on the system I have?
- Yes, this should be OK.
Thanks again for the help. EXACTLY what I was looking for.

What's the rest of your P330 system configuration? Providing your MTM (machine type model) here would help as well.
For the P330 Tower/SFF, we have an internal DP to HDMI dongle that plugs into the motherboard and connects to the rear IO shield using a couple of screws. The part number for this device is: 01YW613.
This should allow you to get your device connected to a direct HDMI connection.
The only other option to connect to a direct HDMI port would be to utilize a discrete GPU, like a GeForce 1660TI, or such that has native HDMI on the card itself, but these video cards will likely only install in a P330 Tower chassis with the 400W PSU.
